The Nursery department of Hill Head
Preparatory School opened in February 1997 and rapidly
established a reputation for providing high quality
child care in a stimulating educational environment
for children 2 to 4 years of age.
In September 2001 the Nursery moved
into it's own building, an historic 15th century
cottage, which provides safe, child friendly surroundings,
excellent facilities and spacious accommodation.
It is well equipped with educational resources. Outside
the children have secure access to extensive gardens,
a sports field and their own all-weather play area.
OUR APPROACH
All our children benefit from being treated as unique individuals who are rich in potential. We provide activities and play opportunities designed to develop children's emotional, physical, social and intellectual capabilities. We follow the Department of Education’s Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. Our implementation of the Foundation Stage Curriculum is judged to be Outstanding. The quality of education and care the children receive in fact every aspect of our Nursery provision has been judged as Outstanding by Ofsted in their 2010 Inspection report.
We believe that children achieve best when they are secure, happy and comfortable in their surroundings. Our learning and play areas are equipped to ensure a safe, cosy and creative atmosphere. Our extensive grounds, including a woodland area, provide wonderful resources for imaginative play and learning.
NURSERY SESSIONS
Maple Cottage is open during the Term for 5 days a week. We believe that it is necessary for children to initially attend a minimum of two sessions per week in order to settle into Nursery school life, establish friendships, gain confidence and benefit from the learning opportunities.
